DMCs in Europe
Europe is a continent consisting of the westernmost part of Eurasia. It is bordered by the Arctic Ocean, the Atlantic Ocean, the Mediterranean Sea, and Asia. As there is no geographical border, it is not always clear where the border can be located. Europe covers about 2% of the Earth’s surface, or 6.8% of its land area, which makes it the smallest continent of the world. It consists of about fifty sovereign states or countries, of which Russia is the largest and most populous. It has more than 400 Unesco World Heritage Sites.
Europe has some very popular tourist destinations, and 7 of the 10 most visited countries of the world are in Europe. It is a lovely continent to travel in, with open borders, lots of cultural heritage and a well organised infrastructure. As it consists of many different countries, there are lots of cultures and ways of life to explore and most of them are not more than a few hours away. Most European countries are members of the European Union (EU), which has its own currency (Euro) and laws. Note however that not all European countries are within the EU.
Europe has something to offer for everyone: Scotland has high mountains with lakes and green landscapes, Norway offers marvellous fjords, France has many small villages with long vineyards and valleys, the Mediterranean coast is filled with beautiful beaches, the Alps are the perfect place for winter sports, and about all of central Europe has rich villages, castles and landscapes that look as if they’re straight out of a fairy tale.
