We were chuffed to be able to show off Madeira‘s rugged beauty to some of the UK’s top agency meeting and incentive buyers, all thanks to TAP Portugal who kindly sorted the flights. The island’s rich history, stunning flora, and dramatic ocean views really do make it an unbeatable choice for corporate events, incentive travel and group programmes. With five-star hotels, lively nightlife and top-notch grub on tap, it’s no surprise that planners are loving Madeira as a destination for unforgettable experiences.
We kicked things off with an early morning flight out of Gatwick and a warm welcome in Funchal, Madeira’s capital, courtesy of the Regional Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Transport and the Uniqueworld DMC Portugal team.
We transferred to the Meliã Madeira Mare Resort & Spa by private coach, where the group checked in and were treated to panoramic ocean views. Lunch on the balcony set the tone for the trip, followed by some free time for everyone to get a feel for the island’s natural beauty. That evening we had cocktails at The Vine Hotel and a visit to the iconic Reid’s Palace Hotel, perched dramatically on the cliffs overlooking Funchal Bay, a cracking spot for gala dinners, VIP groups or high-level corporate hospitality.

The next morning we headed to Funchal to explore the best bits of the city. We hit up the local market, which was a riot of colour and life, before strolling down the artistic old street of Santa Maria and popping into the famous Cathedral. To round off the experience, we did a wine tasting at the Madeira Wine Company, a great option for those looking for something extra special in an incentive programme.
Next up, a cable car ride gave us breathtaking views of the city, before we sat down to lunch at the lovely Quinta do Monte Hotel. We spent the afternoon as we pleased, then had cocktails at Vidamar Resorts Madeira and dinner at Quinta da Bela Vista, a boutique hotel that’s won awards for its luxury and style. Madeira has to offer a great range of boutique properties, making it perfect for corporate travel, team building and tailor-made itineraries.

On Saturday we took a scenic boat trip along the island’s dramatic coastline, taking in the towering cliffs and misty mountains, a real treat for the eyes. We had lunch at the new Quinta do Lorde Marina Resort, which is basically a re-creation of a traditional seaside village, brilliant for product launches, car events or creative brand activations.
After lunch we set off on an off-road adventure into the mountains, which gave us access to views and landscapes we wouldn’t have seen otherwise. It was a real highlight of the trip, and a great way for team building groups to get the adrenaline pumping.
Later that afternoon we visited the Oscar Niemeyer-designed Pestana Casino Park and Congress Centre, which is a super versatile venue for conferences, meetings and large corporate events. Our farewell dinner was at the historic São Tiago Fortress, a 15th-century landmark overlooking Funchal Harbour. The setting is just dramatic enough to make it a standout spot for memorable gala dinners and VIP receptions.

Great report and film… After seeing it I am feeling really sorry I was not able to be with you until the end.
Thank you once again Christian for gathering an excellent group…

I love the initial effect your image makes when seeing it on screen. The tight crop, the immediately recognizable subject, the play of light and shadow, and beautiful texture, all make this a superb high impact image. These kind of expertly crafted images intrigue and excite me :^)
