Mauritius is a small island in the Indian Ocean, lying off the south east coast of Africa, close to Madagascar and Réunion. Its capital and largest city is Port Louis. The island is well known as the home of the dodo, but also for its varied fauna and flora. Mauritius is renowned worldwide for its magnificent hotels, 5-star service, hospitality and authenticity of its people.
Mauritius is a fun and exotic place to hold your event. Port Louis being its capital, it offers beautiful skyscrapers, as well as busy streets and an electric atmosphere. Visit some museums, such as the Blue Penny Museum, which will take you into the history of the island’s exploration, giving a then and now look on the city. You’ll find there the Red one-penny and the Blue two-pence “Post Office” stamps issued in 1847. Both are seen as a national treasure, and are probably the most valuable objects in the island. Else, the Natural History Museum is a major attraction, as there is a reconstruction of a dodo in there - you also can find other species, which are also extinct, but not as famous as the dodo. There are other regions to discover making Mauritius's incentive and meeting possibilities endless.
Have a trip to Grand Baie, a fishing village, where there is an aquarium which will be loved by the kids. You also can discover traditional local shops and modern shops centres featuring well-known brands. Also have an experience in La Vanille nature parks. There, you’ll get to see a crocodile, or else giant bats. Walk through the jungle and explore more of Mauritius’s island. Another interesting National Park to visit is the Black River Gorges National Park. It is the biggest and best park in Mauritius, and the most spectacular place of the island. You’ll admire a diversity of plant and bird species, as well as flowers. Take a half day hiking with your group and a guide, and discover Mauritius’s natural heritage, as well as its breath-taking views and its natural beauty. You can also go scuba diving, kite surfing, and so on. Finally, there are some events taking place in Mauritius every year which you can attend, such as the Mah Shivaratri, taking place in February, being a pilgrimage to the Grand Bassin, where a giant statue, Lord Shiva stands. Another famous Hindu attraction is the Diwali, the festival of light, taking place every autumn and lasting 5 days.
